A Cottage Garden

This little Cottage Garden in the woods is so enchanting!

If you are striving for a simple life, a cabin in the woods may be on your bucket list. Keep it simple. A little cottage. No grass to mow. Easy care plants.

If you are in the woods though, one thing to consider is the local population of deer. You certainly don’t want these creatures to destroy your garden, so the best idea is to plant varieties of plants that the deer tend not to eat. It’s really important to not be tempted to put in a favorite menu item for the deer. It seems that no matter how diligent you are, they will find that one time you forget to spray the repellent to come and devour your prized plant. So, keeping that in mind, this garden includes such plants as “lambs ear”, “microbiota”, “ferns” and “astilbe” among other plants.

There is no grass to mow here! Only a little weeding and plant maintenance. A stone path leads around the property and down to the lake. This cottage setting is all about melding into the natural surroundings of the woods.
